Dealing with Blocked Port 119

Accessing Usenet through Port 119 may be restricted by certain networks. This is commonly the case on public Wi-Fi, work environments, or school systems. When Port 119 is unavailable, use one of the alternative ports supported by UsenetServer.

Here are your options:

  • Non-SSL: 23, 80, 3128

  • SSL: 443, 563, 8080

Switching to an SSL port is generally a good practice, especially when using shared networks, to protect your activity from potential monitoring.

Update your port in the server settings of your newsreader, and test different options if needed.
