How to Get the Best Speeds with UsenetServer in NewsLeecher

NewsLeecher can perform better with UsenetServer after a few tuning adjustments:

Make Sure NewsLeecher Is Up to Date

Visit https://www.newsleecher.com/software/ to make sure you're using the most current version.

Correct Server Settings

Use news.usenetserver.com, enable SSL, and choose port 563.

Try Switching Ports

If 563 is blocked or throttled, test with 443 or 80.

Test a Wired Connection

Wired connections are generally faster and more stable than Wi-Fi.

Use SSL

Be sure "Use Encrypted Server Connections (SSL)" is selected. When asked to change the port to 563, click "Yes."

Connections Setting

UsenetServer allows up to 20 SSL connections. Choose a number appropriate for your Internet speed—typically between 10 and 15.

Set as Primary Server

Make sure UsenetServer is at the top of your server list so it's used before any backups.

Advanced Configuration

Turning on "Show Advanced Settings" provides access to additional adjustments, including retry timers and article cache size.

Retention Access

UsenetServer offers long article retention. Configure your group and search settings in NewsLeecher to take full advantage.

Bandwidth Competition

Pause other heavy Internet activity while using NewsLeecher. Background software updates, cloud sync tools, or streaming services can slow performance.

Firewall and Antivirus Software

These can sometimes throttle or block NewsLeecher traffic. Test speed with protections disabled, or add an exception rule.

Network Reset

Restart your modem and router. Fluctuating speeds can often be corrected with a simple reboot.

Correct Server Address

Verify that your UsenetServer address is spelled correctly in NewsLeecher to prevent failed or fallback connections.
