Guide to Moving Newsbin Configuration

UsenetServer users transferring their setup to another machine can follow these steps:

  1. Install the Application: Add Newsbin to your new computer and activate your license.

  2. Copy Your Data Folder: Under Options > Setup, find and move the full data folder to the new device.

  3. Transfer GUI Settings: The Guiitems.db3 file holds your window preferences and should be placed in C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\newsbin.

  4. Copy the .NBI Config File: This file maintains your servers and group subscriptions. Double-click to initiate Newsbin with your saved preferences.

  5. Changing the Newsbin Data Folder location:

    • Locate the current .NBI configuration file using the title bar or "Save Configuration As."

    • Use Options > Setup > "Open Data Folder" to find the current Data path.

    • Exit Newsbin.

    • Open the .NBI file in a text editor. Make a backup first.

    • Modify the DataPath under [Settings] to the desired location.

    • Move all related files to the updated folder.

    • Start Newsbin by double-clicking the .NBI file.

  6. Start with Your Saved Setup: Newsbin remembers the .NBI file used on launch, so future sessions will use the same setup.

Note: Update existing queue items manually with "Download to Folder" if needed.
