Accurate Server Benchmarking with NZBGet

Test performance without external NZBs by setting up a dedicated test server in NZBGet configured with a transfer cap.

Steps

  1. Start with a Known-Good Server:
Add a UsenetServer entry in Settings > NEWS-SERVERS and confirm its success.

  2. Clone for Testing:
Duplicate the server entry and name it "UsenetServer Speed Test".

  3. Cap Transfer:
Enable Optional and set X.Limit to a low value (e.g., 50 MB).

  4. Test Server Priority:
Assign Level 0 and disable other servers.

  5. Restart and Review:
Restart NZBGet. Watch the status bar for throughput readings.

  6. Analyze Results:
Use the output to make decisions on port, SSL settings, or connection count.
