Troubleshooting Newsbin Pro for UsenetServer Users

Resolving Newsbin Issues While Using UsenetServer

1. Shift-Key Launch for Safe Start

Start Newsbin while holding Shift to override stored layout preferences.

2. Restore Interface Visibility

Missing windows, panes, or controls can be restored via:

  • Options > Reset Display GUI

3. Server List Corrupted or Empty

If no server appears in Options > Servers:

  • Use New Server to input your UsenetServer credentials.

4. Crashing or Freezing at Launch

  • Exit the program.

  • Rename the .nbi file in the data directory.

  • Relaunch and reconfigure manually.

5. Erratic Behavior or Errors in Logs

  • Rename .db3 header/group database files.

  • Let Newsbin rebuild them on restart.

6. Security Software Blocking Access

  • Temporarily disable antivirus, firewall, or VPN.

  • Retry server access.

7. Incomplete Headers or Missing Articles

  • Confirm the newsgroup’s age falls within UsenetServer’s article retention.

  • Review search filters or Indexer rules.
