Newsbin Pro Setup for UsenetServer

Newsbin Pro is a popular Usenet client for Windows that supports advanced features, high-speed access, and secure SSL connections. Follow the steps below to configure Newsbin Pro for use with UsenetServer.

Step 1: Install Newsbin Pro

Download the latest version of Newsbin Pro from the official Newsbin website. Newsbin Pro is a paid application. The standard license is $20 and does not include Usenet search. A $30 license includes integrated Usenet search functionality. A 15-day free trial is available upon request.

Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. During installation, the Setup Wizard will launch and prompt you to:

  • Enter a name for your server (we suggest: UsenetServer)

  • Provide the server address: news.usenetserver.com

  • Enable SSL for secure connections

  • Input your UsenetServer username and password

Once installation is complete, launch Newsbin Pro.

Step 2: Configure UsenetServer Connection (optional)

If you want to add another server or manually control the UsenetServer connection details, you can do so at any time in Options > Servers.

From there, you may:

  • Add a new server entry

  • Modify existing server settings

  • Manage connection details

These credentials and server details are available in your UsenetServer account dashboard.

Step 3: Adjust Server Settings (optional)

After completing the wizard, go to Options > Servers to review and adjust server-specific settings:

  • Server Address: news.usenetserver.com

  • Use SSL: Enabled (checked)

  • Port: 563 (recommended for SSL)

  • Connections: Set up to 20 simultaneous connections (UsenetServer supports up to 20)

  • Requires Login: Enabled

  • Username / Password: Enter your UsenetServer credentials

Click "OK" to save your changes.

Step 4: Configure Newsgroup List

Before accessing newsgroups, download the full list of available groups:

  • From the main Newsbin Pro interface, click Download the Latest Group Updates

This will populate your Newsbin Pro interface with the most current UsenetServer-supported newsgroups.

Step 5: Begin Accessing Usenet

After configuring your settings and retrieving the newsgroup list, you're ready to begin accessing articles across all supported newsgroups. Newsbin Pro will now connect through UsenetServer using your specified preferences, including secure SSL access and the fullest article retention.
